Construction Federal Funding Allocations to States

Disclaimer

The below data indicates all federal funding issued directly to all states and territories. As this is reflective of dollars that have already been distributed, there may be discrepancies between the dollars sent and federal allocations that were approved by Congress and federal agencies. Additionally, while all these funds are used for construction activities and the construction industries, some of the federal funding programs listed below may be used for industries beyond construction, such as the workforce education training programs.

Methodology

The data available through this website is sourced from USASpending.Gov and reflects federal funds per each program awarded directly to each state. For the Utility, Highway, Building and Workforce dollars are calculated through each program’s federal Assistance Listing, which provides the direct federal dollars that each program receives. The Federal/Heavy dollars are identified through the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes, which break down federal dollars across specific industries. These NIACS codes are limited to only reflect the allotments within the construction industry. As mentioned in the disclaimer above, these figures are only reflective of the awards going directly to the states. Due to this discrepancy, numbers may vary from full appropriations levels.
